Adrian Gilbert

In Search of the Invisible College
In 1642 or thereabouts, a group of eminent 'Natural Philosophers' began meeting together in London and Oxford on a semi-regular basis. Some fifty in all, their number included eminent professors, clergymen, alchemists and amateur astronomers. Called The Invisible College, not all of the members were resident in England or even English. What they had in common was a belief that through the practical application of the scientific method, a new age of enlightenment could be brought into the world.
In 1663 the College was replaced by the 'The Royal Society' and it ceased to exist.
In his talk Adrian Gilbert will examine the history of the Invisible College; he will explain how our situation today is the reverse of that faced by the 'Invisibles'. For them it was religious dogmatism that was a bar to self-development, for us it is an overly dogmatic science.

Adrian Gilbert was born near London in 1949. From 1968-71 he read Chemistry at the University of Kent in Canterbury. While there he took up yoga and this led to his first cosmic experience. During a meditating on a beach in Broadstairs, he personally experienced an extraordinary awakening of the sort described in the Hindu Upanishads.
In 1992 Adrian met up with Robert Bauval and together they wrote what was to become a number one best-seller: The Orion Mystery (1994). This was followed by a string of other books, including Signs in the Sky (2000) and The End of Time (2006). He is currently engaged on launching The Invisible College.net, which is intended to be an international, multi-media esoteric resource. Meanwhile he has other books to write concerning ancient mysteries and human possibilities.
Adrian lives in England with his wife Dee and their daughter Alice.
